25 августа 1945 завершилась Битва за Сахалин — наступательная операция вооружённых сил СССР против японских войск в ходе советско-японской войны с целью овладения Южным Сахалином. Завершилась разгромом и капитуляцией японских войск, потерявших более 18 000 человек пленными.

'Blue Line' - a line of German fortifications on the Taman Peninsula. Availability 400000th army group and shortened front line allowed the Germans to create here a very tight defense. Fighting here lasted from February to September 1943, until the German troops were evacuated to the Crimea. For the liberation of the Taman Peninsula 2nd Guards Rifle Division 9 October 1943 received the honorary title of 'Taman'.

А в 1947 стал Министром обороны в звании Маршала.
А еще говорят, что самую успешную карьеру в КА в годы войны сделал Баграмян :)
А потом ррраз и снова прыжок в кресло председателя Совета министров СССР.
