The shoulder boards of Kaiser Wilhelm II

The shoulder boards of Kaiser Wilhelm II for his uniform as General Field Marshall and Chief of the King’s 1st Bavarian Uhlans.

An original Jolly Roger type flag from the 18th century in the Åland Maritime Museum, Finland. One of only two or perhaps three in the world, the other being in the St Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum in St Augustine, Florida.

A French Model 1872/74 Other Ranks Cuirassiers Helmet.

A Central European Wheel Lock Sporting Rifle.

Circa 1690. As seen at the Torridon House Sale at Lyon & Turnbull on the 28th October, 2015. The story goes that the rifle was supplied by the French to the Jacobites. At some point it was hidden in a peat bog on the Ben Damph Estate.

An Officer’s bell topped shako of the 17th Regiment of Light Dragoons. Circa 1820.

This makes the shako just shy of the 1822  restyling of the 17th into a Lancer regiment and the adoption of the chapska.

Хорошая коллекция...

An Austrian 1905 M Officers’ Dragoon helmet.

A Helm M 1867 Officer’s pickelhaulbe or spiked helmet from the Cuirassier Regiment von Seydlitz (Madgeburg or Magdeburgisches) Nr.7.

Private Samuel Godley of the 2nd Life Guards and his Battle of Waterloo.

Samuel Godley’s fame as a cavalryman came from a clash at the great Battle of Waterloo. Whist charging the Cuirassiers Godley’s horse was shot out from under him. Subsequently a Cuirassier came upon Godley and the two did fight (as pictured). Godley was struck on the head by his foe’s sword to which his skull was shattered. Despite the shocking injury Godley fought on and killed and dismounted the Frenchman and rode away atop his mount.

Private Godley severally injured stayed his course and did not receive treatment until after the battle’s end. Godley was to require a silver plate to be inserted into his head to remady the situation.

Upon the death of Samuel Godley in 1832 the non-commissioned officers of the 2nd Life Guards payed for the gravestone pictured to accompany Godley’s  resting place in the graveyard of the St John’s Wood Church in North London.
